I'm using Windows 7 x64 and I can't, for the life of me, get a PDF printer driver to install. I'm talking about software that prints to PDF, not software that prints PDF files.
I have Acrobat 9 professional. The toolbar for printing to PDF works fine from word, but there is no actual printer installed into the OS.I've tried CutePDF (which doesn't install properly) and PDFCreator (which crashes when you try to print to it). Both of these utilities work fine under Vista.Has anyone else had any luck? This is really the only issue that's keeping me from using Windows 7 normally. I found a solution that makes CutePDF work on W7 x64:Install CutePDF as usual. Ignore the error message.Go to devices and printers, add local printer, use an existing port, and choose CPW2: (CutePDF Writer). It will then prompt you to choose a printer driver.
I chose Generic-MS Publisher Color Printer. Any printer driver that's postscript (PS) seems to work to varying degrees. The HP Color LaserJet xxx PS drivers worked, but put a blank page at the end and then an 'ERROR' message (but the rest of the PDF printed fine). This is probably due to HP extensions.Good luck!:). One can open MS Office documents (i.e. Word) and save them in PDF format. Presently OO cannot open Office 2007 documents. Then use free Foxit Reader in order to print.

I have Acrobat 8 Professional, and installed it under Windows 7 x64.
The installation worked ok, except for the fact a required DLL was missing during the installation. The DLL was present in my Vista installation, but since my Vista is 32-bit, I couldn't use it. Acrobat Pro works fine, and can make PDFs, but I didn't get my normal PDF Printer, either. The plugins for Office 2003/2007 to create a PDF from documents seem to work fine. Hopefully one of the above-mentioned products will help you get a PDF 'printer'. I've been around this issue with pdf converters/Quickbooks/Windows 7 64 bit for quite a while, xince the beta version was first released. There is no current 64 bit pdf converter that works inside Quickbooks for Windows 7 64.

I managed to get Cutepdf working but it was the result of performing an upgrade from Vista 64 to Windows 7 64 with Cutepdf already installed and working in Vista. When I did a clean install of Windows 7 Cutepdf would not work. I, too HAVE to have that pdf converter working as I send out invoices and statements nearly every day via email. So for now I can either use cutepdf to convert a quickbooks invoice manually, or, as of today I installed XP mode and I'm successfully running Quickbooks (with its native pdf converter) inside the XP virtualizer. I would be interested in hearing more about what's up with this problem in Windows 7. Since Vista (32 and 64) has no issues, what is so different in 7??
